We try to keep IvyRoot simple and self-explanatory. However, we use a number of key terms throughout the system and it does help to be clear on what they mean.
Analyst – We use analysts to examine your data for you and highlight aspects of your data
API – Application Programming Interface: IvyRoot supplies a fully featured interface that allows you to access your data and control and manipulate many of the features available throught the IvyRoot pages.
Authorization – Some sites, such as Google Analytics, require you to give the IvyRoot site permission to access your data without requiring you to give us your passwords. You can revoke your permissions at anytime either with IvyRoot or the service you are connecting to.
Category – Organising your data is easy wit categories. You can place your data into one or many catgegories and use these categories to group your data. You will also find that categories are created for you when you add connectors.
Comments – Want to know what that spike is in your data? Perhaps you have something important to say about why the figures are dropping the way they do? Comments let you share opinions on the data you have or others have shared with you.
Connector – A connector is your agent to go and gather data. We have agents that can read web pages, RSS feeds, get weather reports, capture your analytics data and many more. We can never have enough connectors and will always be adding more. Depending on your product plan you can set up connectors to run up to every minute.
Groups – Not all data is meant to kept to yourself. With groups you can control who can see your data and allows you to share the right data with the right people.
Measure – A measure is where we store the data. Measures are your data series and are specially optimised for storing data series that change over time. You can fill in the data for a measure using a connector, any of our example tools or even build your own using the API.
Product – IvyRoot lets you do more than is available on our free package. Checkout our product and pricing plans to see what features we offer.
Profile – This is your user account. From here you can manage your password, email address, define themes and check out your product subscription.
Report – Seeing your data is done through reports. Reports are made of elements that can either be unique to that report or shared across others. Once you’ve made the report you’re proud of then you can share that with friends or colleagues on IvyRoot or if you wish share it with others using a variety of blogging and sharing tools.
Report Page – Every report is made up from pages. You can either fix exactly what pages you want or ask IvyRoot to create sets of pages based on the data you want in the report.
Report Panel – Panels are the smallest element of a report, they define commonly used elements such as a line-graph or summary. You can arrange panels how you like across a page and customize their behaviour so you get just the information you need.
Report Section – Report sections help you define the layout of the page. You can either explicitly layout the columns and panels or you can let the sections help you repeat areas based on what categories or measures you’ve chosen to report on.
Theme – Not happy with the color scheme we use? Feel free to change and setup a color scheme and styles for the web site. Bring your personal touch to your reports and color and brand them to how you want them too look.
